Gretchen Schuette Art Gallery

2026 Student Art Show - Call for Artists

Applications open during May 4th - 8th with selected artists notified May 12th. The show runs May 13th - June 5th, with an award ceremony and reception at 12 PM on Wednesday, May 20th.

This is an opportunity to celebrate our students and to display the breadth of skill and focus throughout the Chemeketa community. All currently enrolled students are encouraged to apply, regardless of field of study or formal training.

The 2026 show will be juried by an external juror who will select pieces for display in the final exhibit. We hope to have every artist submit their work to fully represent the array of skill and range of voices at Chemeketa Community College. Not only is this a fantastic opportunity to experience the application process for artwork, it is a chance to build confidence, receive stipend awards, and sell your work.

Check out the website for more information, or contact the gallery assistant with any questions.

The Gretchen Schuette Art Gallery is in Building 3, Room 122 at the Chemeketa Community College Salem Campus

Have questions? Reach out to gallery director Deanne Beausoleil or the gallery assistant Amadeo Rehbein-Verhoeven.

  • ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM

The Artist in Residence Program at the Gretchen Schuette Art Gallery occurs at the Salem campus of Chemeketa Community College in the Gretchen Schuette Art Gallery. The Artist in Residence Program offers a single artist or a group of up to three artists the use of the gallery space as an art studio along with a future exhibition.

The artist, or artists, get quality uninterrupted time and space to complete a body of work or foster new directions. They may also gain access to kilns, still life props, and printing presses. In exchange for the studio space, the artist offers two public educational programs such as slide lectures, open visitor hours, or workshops.
